The first dental school was the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery opened in Baltimore, Maryland, USA that opened in 1840. However, the earliest roots of dentistry can be traced back to the Indus Valley Civilization as far back as 7000 B. C. The expansion of specializations among dental specialists has burgeoned. Dental Public Health, Endodontic, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology, Oral Surgery, Orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, periodontics, pediatric dentistry and posthrodontics are specializations that dentists undertake in the US, Canada and Australia.
