Sending out birth announcements used to require writing out all of the details by hand, taking up lots of time that you probably did not have. As you quickly learn when you have a baby in the house, sleep is in short supply and scrawling through a stack of birth announcements probably is not at the top of your to do list. There is also the option of going to a specialty card store, telling the salesperson what you want, letting them do the work of filling out the birth announcements and you can come to get the birth announcements later.
